It's official - 9th March is re-opening day!
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we are delighted to say March 9th is the date the Pandora Inn will be re-opening its doors!
Just under a year since it was gutted by fire, the historic and much-loved Pandora Inn will soon be trading again.
On March 24th last year, just after winning the coveted Cornwall Tourism Pub of the year award, fire ripped through the thatched roof of the Pandora destroying the roof and first floor of the building in minutes.
Now, this wonderful old pub has been rebuilt and returned to its former glory. From the exterior, this 13th century inn will look exactly as it did, with its distinctive roof rebuilt and re-thatched.
On the ground floor, all of the original features were miraculously saved as the fire was brought under control before reaching this part of the building. Finishing touches are being made to the décor and the pub’s original furniture has been restored and reupholstered and will be put back, just as it was.
Former head chef, Tom Milby, will return to the helm, cooking up many of the favourite dishes regulars will remember. As ever, with its location on the edge of the creek, fresh fish will feature prominently on the menu.
John Milan and Steve Bellman, tenants at the Pandora Inn for more than 12 years, said: “We know we speak for many of the Pandora’s regular customers when we say how excited we are about the pub reopening.
“We have been overwhelmed by the on-going support and interest through our website and Facebook page from locals, and many returning holiday makers, so it will be great to see them all again!“
John added: “We are looking forward to welcoming everyone when the doors reopen on March 9th at 11.00am. Customers will be greeted by a number of the original staff that worked at the Pandora before the fire and, much to everyone’s delight, head chef Tom will be back in the kitchen.
“The only difference that people will notice internally is in the first floor trading area where there are now beautiful exposed green oak beams and stunning oak flooring.”
Managers’ Catherine and Lester Croft will be looking after the day-to-day running of the pub and bookings are now being taken for the reopening.
As the phones will not always be manned while we are getting ready to open, the best way to contact the pub is via email on info@pandorainn.com
